Smith Valley, Owyhee, Pyramid Lake, Eureka win 1A regional titles

In the 1A East regional, the No. 2 teams came out on top with Owyhee defeated top-seed Eureka, 58-41, in the boys final and Eureka defeated top-seed Owyhee, 45-29, in the girls final. In the 1A West regional, No. 1 Smith Valley defeated No. 2 Mineral County, 76-70, in the boys final while No. 1 Pyramid Lake won its fourth-straight championship, defeating No. 2 Smith Valley, 46-19.

All eight teams will compete in the Class 1A state tournament, which is Thursday at Reno and Spanish Springs high schools before moving to Reno for Friday and Saturday’s action.
